Questions About Teeth in a Day
Apex, Cary, and Raleigh, North Carolina
If you are missing all of your teeth, you have another option other than a full set of dentures. The All-On-4 Implant system also referred to as Teeth-In-a-Day may be right for you if you desire a permanent tooth replacement option that remains in place. During your consultation with your Raleigh periodontist, Dr. Otis Washington, he will determine whether this revolutionary implant system is right for you.
In the meantime, here is information that you may find useful if you are considering the All-On-4 Implant system.
Am I a candidate for Teeth-In-a-Day?
This permanent tooth replacement procedure is ideal for adult patients who already wear dentures but are searching for something better or for patients who are about to lose all of their teeth and desire an alternative to dentures. The best way, however, to determine if you are a candidate will be through a consultation with us at Triangle Periodontics.
My jawbone has diminished since my teeth were extracted, am I still a candidate?
This is good news for anyone who has suffered from jawbone recession – which is typical as a result of missing teeth. You may still be a candidate for this procedure. Many patients who were previously told they were not candidates for traditional implants are in fact candidates for Teeth-In-a-Day. The reason for this is because, with Teeth-In-a-Day, we use so-called “mini implants” and place the implants strategically at a precise angle that does not require as much jawbone as compared to a traditional implant.
How long is the surgery?
The length of the surgery may vary from patient to patient, but it generally takes about 2 ½ hours per dental arch. So if you are having all of your teeth (both uppers and lowers) replaced with the All-On-4 system, it may take about 4-5 hours in one sitting.
Should I expect any pain or discomfort?
Everyone’s pain threshold varies, but most patients find that if they experience any post-operative discomfort, over-the-counter pain relievers are enough to keep them comfortable. However, if you experience extreme discomfort beyond what you can manage at home, you should not hesitate to contact Dr. Washington.
How much does All-On-4 Implants cost?
This, too, may vary depending on if other treatments are necessary before we begin. For example, if you require multiple extractions, this would be an additional cost. Keep in mind that although the All-On-4 Implant system may have a higher upfront cost, it will provide you with permanent teeth that last for years, unlike dentures that tend not to fit as well, have to be removed daily for cleaning, and typically need to be remade every decade or so. Be sure to ask us about our special interest-free, low monthly payment options.
